The celebrations held in the river for the first time in history were memorable. 6,800 athletes on 85 boats participated in the 6 km long parade on the river. More than 3,20,000 spectators attended the ceremony. This is a record. The opening ceremony was attended by the largest number of people in the history of the Olympics. 80 huge screens have been set up around the river. The way the celebration continues with the addition of reality to the virtual is simply superb.
The Paris Olympics 2024 began with three children in a small boat and a masked man carrying the Olympic torch. After that, the Greek team participated in the parade first by breaking through the water curtains. Later came the refugee group. From there, the rest of the countries participated in the parade in alphabetical order of French. While this parade was going on, pop singer Lady Gaga entertained with her performance. Performances and acrobatics by artistes continued on both sides of the river.
French President Emmanuel Macron, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, famous athletes of various sports and celebrities from different fields participated.
Paris Olympics 2024 : India’s Performance
Indian athletes enthusiastically participated in the Paris Olympics 2024 parade. Badminton star PV Sindhu and table tennis legend Sarath Kamal acted as flag bearers. While these two stood in front holding the tricolor flag, the boat with the Indian athletes went behind them. 78 athletes and representatives from the Indian team participated in the parade. In traditional Indian attire, women wear sarees designed with the other two colors of the tricolor on white, and men wear kurta-paijama.

The first doping case was registered in the Paris Olympics 2024. Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen caught in doping tests. He was found to have used two types of banned steroids. So he was suspended.
